Increase number of cases of Scarlet Fever and Strep A infections [Cheshire East]
You will be aware of the increase in the number of cases of Scarlet Fever and Strep A infections that have been reported nationally. I would like to reassure you that I am following all advice given to help identify any cases and to reduce the spread.
Cheshire East are monitoring cases across the Borough and have responded quickly providing Schools and Providers with regular updates and guidance documents.
I am also working with and following the advice from our local Public Health Consultants to ensure good hygiene and cleaning systems continue to be in place. I am reviewing all planned activities to see if these can go ahead safely and are taking advice where necessary.
I would ask you to read carefully the letters which are attached from UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), (the organisation that has replaced Public Health England). This letter describes the symptoms and the actions which parents/carers should take. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home to recover. If they have symptoms which are listed in the UKHA letter then you should follow the advice given. This letter describes when to contact the GP or 111 or when an urgent 999 or A&E visit is advised.
